    E60 High beam assistant

Any experience about high beam assistant?

I have that in my car and in my opinion it does not working properly.
    It is too slow.

It takes 2-4 seconds to get lights back to high beam when forthcoming car has passed my car.

Programming can be made in BMW service, not possible via Idrive.

System has three sensitivity settings: sensitive, normal, and..cant remember last one.
In my car, system was working just fine. Only problem was that it did not sense yellow streetlights correctly some times. After car passing, it changed from lo to hi in 1-2 seconds. Bit "lazy", but good enough.

I went to service and asked if something could be done with it.
After connecting programming device, it turned out that setting was in "sensitive" mode. So they changed it to "normal".
This was guessing, they did not know what "sensitive" mean in practice -would it be then more sensitive to light or dark.
Difference was not too big, but it seems to work bit better with yellow lights now. Othervise cant really tell how it changed.

But overall, it is very good feature to have- like it a lot.

What is the typical distance when the car sets the lights to the lowbeam when the car detects the lights from the forcoming car or the red rear lights in the car in front of you?

For my taste, system changes to lo beams too early if forthcoming car with bright high beams is clearly visible very far. But then again, its not "wrong" since lights actually are very bright.

When following car ahead, (or when car driving in same direction comes visible in front of you from f.e. behind hill), system somehow regonizes it very well.
Not sure if it detects red tail lights, but it appears to be so.
Works smoothly in that situation anyway

          Edit:
I wonder if daylight sensing LDR has anything to do with automatic high beams.
In my car, it has to be really dark before system lits low beams. On the road at the moment, people are flashing me lights since Im running on angel eyes only.
Still, automatic high beam works fine, so I would imagine systems might not use same sensors. Just guessing here tho.
