Monessa E39:ssa on Motorolan V50-puhelimen paikka ja itsellänikin sellainen on. Ikävä kyllä vaan itse puhelin on näytöltään rikki ja näytön uusiminen maksaa enemmän kuin uusi puhelin. Vilkaisin Ebayta ja siellä muiden V50:sten joukossa oli muutama jossa luki "V50 BMW-software". Onko siis tuo autossa oleva V50 jotenkin erilainen kuin normi V50? Eikö siihen käykään heittämällä tilalle samannäköinen puhelin?

Löysin ebaystä yhdestä Motorola V50 myynti-ilmoituksesta seuraavan tekstin:
" BMW COMPATIBILITY:
This phone on auction DOES NOT have the BMW software upgrade. However, this phone is still compatible and works with 90% of the BMW in-car functions. For example, the phonebook will be read by the computer and displayed on the Nav Screen. Also the phone can be operated by the multifunction steering wheel controls (where fitted) for voice activated dialling and hands free compatibility. The only extra features you get from the BMW software are the incoming caller ID displayed on the computer screen and the possibility of editing the voice ID tags from the car, rather than just using the phone. Another feature is that the BMW software enabled phone will not continue charging the phone battery and drain the car battery over a long period - but this is not essential - if you leave your phone charging in your car for several days, someone will break in and pinch it long before the battery goes flat!"
